Hermantown Remains Unbeaten

The Hermantown Hawks improved to 4-0 on the year, defeating Duluth Denfeld, 42-28 to remain perfect.

The Hawks got out to an early lead in the 1st quarter on a 35 yard pass from TJ Gamradt to Drew Adamec to give them a 6-0 lead. The Hunters would answer when Jacob Herold bolted 62 yards to give them the 7-6 lead after the first quarter.

Denfeld would open the second quarter up with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Cody Brown to Brody Russell, making it 14-6 in favor of the Hunters. The Hawks would knot it up at 14-14 heading into the half after Matt Valure caught a 19 yard pass from Gamradt.

In the 3rd quarter, the Hawks would start to pull away after Gamradt ran for a two touchdowns, one from 60 yards out and the other from 28 yards out, to push the Hawks lead to 26-14. The Hunters would chip away at the Hawks lead when Brown and Russell connected for the second time of the night, this time on a 22 yard pass, making it 26-21.

In the fourth quarter, Gamradt would continue his tear, this time scoring on a 18 yard run, making it 33-21 in favor of the Hawks. The Hunters would answer when Montrell McMillian found the end zone on a 9 yard run making it 33-28 but Gamradt would put the final nail in the coffin on a 1 yard plunge to secure the 42-28 victory for the Hawks.

The Hawks (4-0) will be back in action on September 30th when they host the Cloquet Lumberjacks. The Hunters drop to 1-3 on the year and will look to bounce back on September 30th when they travel to play the Proctor Rails.
