Cook County Outlasts Carlton

Cade Pierson – NSO

Carlton traveled up to Cook County Friday night, as it was the Vikings coming out on top, 20-16.

Cook County would strike first, as Quarterback Josh Prom threw his first touchdown of the night.

The Bulldogs would answer with a strike of their own, as Quarterback Jackson Mickle connected with Eric Soderstrom for a 25-yard score.  Heading into the second quarter, Carlton held a 8-6 lead.

Pram would give Cook County the lead again in the second, heaving a 73-yard bomb for the only score of the quarter and bring the score 12-8.

There would be a delay of play in the third quarter, as the lights went out, joined by pouring rain.  Once play resumed, Carlton’s Mickle would scamper for a big 48-yard touchdown, giving Carlton a slim 16-14 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Pram would save his longest touchdown throw for last, as he connected on a 75-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter, giving the Vikings a 20-16 lead.

The Dogs would have one last chance with under minute to play, but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity on the goal line.

Cook County will take on Frederic next Friday in a non-conference game, while the Bulldogs will host the McGregor Mercs in their home opener.
