South Ridge Wins Twice To Start The Playoffs

The 2nd seeded South Ridge Panthers won twice on Wednesday afternoon to remain in the winners bracket in Section 7A.

The Panthers started the playoffs out with a first round victory over the Wrenshall Wrens, 19-5. They then went on the play the 3rd seeded Cook County Vikings, edging them 12-11. The Vikings advanced by walking the Carlton Bulldogs off in the bottom of the 7th inning, winning 7-6.

The Panthers came back from an 11-7 deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning which ended when Christian Houle hit a 2 run double to secure the 12-11 victory for the Panthers.

Zach Johnson got the win, pitching just an inning for the Panthers. He did his part at the plate, going 2-4 with a home run and 4 RBI’s. Elias Tuominen went 2-2 with an RBI and Reid Clark went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.

In the loss for the Vikings, Owen Anderson went 2-5 with a home run and an RBI. Rory Bakke went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s while Frankie Miller went 2-5 with an RBI.

The Panthers (17-5) will now face the Ely Timberwolves (17-4) on June 3rd in Virginia. The game will start at 4:30pm. The Vikings will face the North Woods Grizzlies on June 3rd in Proctor with a start time of 2:00pm.
