Familiar foes, the Polar League rivals, the Esko Eskomos and Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels will square off on June 2nd at 4:00pm with a trip to the State Tournament on the line.

The Eskomos advanced to the Section Finals on Wednesday afternoon by toppling Rush City 11-1 behind a stellar pitching performance from Emilee Wilson who pitched 6 innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 7 batters. Neena Magnuson went 2-2 with a home run and 2 RBI’s in the win, while Hannah Stark went 2-3 with a double and RBI.

MLWR had a long road to the Section Finals, winning 3 games yesterday to make it to the Finals. The Rebels got by Duluth Marshall 8-3 in their first game to set up a matchup with Virginia. They would get a key home run in the top of the 7th inning from Lauren Petersen, which put the Rebels up 6-4 en route to an 8-4 victory. MLWR then advanced to the section finals after eliminating Rush City 10-6.

Esko (15-5) will need just one victory to advance to the Class AA State Tournament, while the MLWR Rebels (20-5) will need two wins to secure the Section 7AA title and a trip to the State Tournament.
