Bulldogs Scores 17 Runs In Win

The Carlton Bulldogs took on their cross-town rivals, the Wrenshall Wrens, on Tuesday evening at Braun Park, blowing past them 17-6 in 6 innings.

The Bulldogs got out to a quick 7-0 lead through 4 innings on Tuesday night. The Wrens attempted to respond with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th but the Bulldogs would come storming back with a 6 run 5th inning. The Wrens chipped away again with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th but the Bulldogs would match that in the 6th inning to grab the dominating 17-6 victory.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Jackson Mickle who went 4-5 with a double and a triple along with 4 RBI’s. Following suit was Leif Herman who went 4-4 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI’s and Evan Gray who went 3-4 with 4 RBI’s and 3 stolen bases. Nate Nilsen and Jacob Santkuyl each had an RBI in the victory.

For the Wrens, Adam DeVall went 3-3 with a triple and 2 RBI’s and teammate Randy Wimmer went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Evan Gray notched the win for the Bulldogs, pitching an efficient 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5. Getting the loss for the Wrens was Brendan Kelley who allowed 10 earned runs in 5 innings.

The Bulldogs move to 3-7 on the season and will be back in action at home against Mountain Iron-Buhl on May 4th. The Wrens drop to 0-3 on the year and will look for their first win on May 5th when they take on Northeast Range.
