Bulldogs Rally, Notch Victory Over Silver Bay

The Carlton Bulldogs took on the Silver Bay Mariners on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs trailed 8-1 after 2 innings but battled back to score 11 unanswered runs to notch the key Polar League victory, 12-8 over the Mariners.

The Bulldogs were led on offense by Sam Macor who went 3-3 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Evan Gray and Jackson Mickle each went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, while Tyler Ojibway went 2-4 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases. Also chipping in on offense for the Bulldogs was lone senior, Marshall Bennett, who went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and Nate Nilsen who went 1-4 with a double and an RBI.

On the mound, Peyton Schmidt came into a tough situation in the 3rd inning with bases loaded, getting out of the jam and continuing to pitch strong the rest of the way. Schmidt threw 4.1 innings allowing just 1 hit and no runs while striking out 3 to notch the win.

The Bulldogs improve to 2-5 on the year and will look to string together a winning streak when they travel to play the Cook County Vikings on Friday afternoon.
