The closely contested game was tight from start to finish with the first goal coming 6 minutes into the second period when MLWR’s Jessica Bird was assisted by sister Jamie Bird to put the Rebels up 1-0. International Falls would respond to that goal when Lexi Edwards found the back of the net at the 11 minute mark to knot the game up at 1-1.

In the 3rd period, Jessica Bird put the Rebels up again, scoring 5 minutes into the period to push it to a 2-1 lead, but International Falls came storming back, with Lexi Edwards scoring again, tying the game for the second time of the evening, making it 2-2.

It took two overtime periods for the game to be decided, but it was Jessica Bird finding the net for the 3rd time in the game to give the MLWR Rebels the 2 overtime victory over the Broncos, 3-2.

Maddy Gamst had a stellar game for the Rebels, stopping 24 shots on the night, while International Falls goalie Grace Wegner also stopped an impressive 24 shots in the loss.

The MLWR Rebels are now 16-9-1 on the seasona and will face Proctor/Hermantown in the next round of the playoffs. That game will be played at Heritage Arena at 6:00pm. Internation Falls ended their season with a record of 14-11.
