It was a packed gym Thursday night, as the Carlton Bulldogs hosted cross-town rivals Wrenshall in a battle for the little brown jug, in which the lady Dogs won the previous year.

The Bulldogs controlled most of the first half, as they went to the locker room at halftime with a 30-19 lead, thanks to their intense defense.

The Wrens would come out swinging the second half however, as it was a very tight game until the final minute.  Wrenshall would outscore Carlton in the second half 31-27, but it wasn’t enough.

After the final buzzer, the score would be 57-50, in favor of Carlton, who was led by Senior Ashley Anderson with 20 points.

Also scoring for the Dogs in the win was Jenna Reed 9, Mackenzie Goranson 7, Haily Klassen and Millie Groth 6, Amanda Groth 4, Elva Kingbird 3, and rounding it out was Tara Mostrom with 2.

Delaney Kittel paced the Wrens with 21 points, while Shana Laveau had 15.

Wrenshall will try and get back on track, as they will visit Silver Bay next.

The Bulldogs will keep the jug for another year, and will look to add another win next week as they travel to Floodwood to play the Polar Bears.
