The Proctor Rails took the ice on Friday night to square off with the Princeton Tigers. The Rails edged the Tigers in a high scoring, 5-4 game.

Proctor kicked off the scoring at the 11:30 mark when Kaleb Stevens found the net. Jake Malec would put the Rails up 2-0 after scoring 3 minutes later. Princetons Tyler McAlpine cut into the lead, scoring near the 17 minute spot on a power play goal to make it 2-1 in favor of the Rails.

In the 2nd period, Proctor would score a power play goal of their own when John Aase scored just 40 seconds in, making it 3-1. Princeton responded though, just 30 seconds later when Logan Peterson converted another power play for the Tigers, making it 3-2. Proctor would go back up 2 goals when Evan O’Connor scored on the Rails second power play goal of the period, pushing it to 4-2. Princeton would once again have an answer, however, with Josh Swanson sneaking it past the goalie late in the period, cutting the Proctor lead to 4-3.

In the final period, Aase would score his second goal for the Rails, just 2 minutes into the period, making it 5-3. Princeton would convert their third power play of the game with Derek Abrahamson scoring late in the period to cut the lead to 5-4, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Rails held on to the 5-4 lead to secure the victory.

Braxton Sather blocked 22 shots in the win for the Rails, while Owen Othoudt stopped 23 in the loss for the Tigers.

The Rails improve to 6-5 on the year and will look to string together back to back wins when they face Pine City/Rush City at home on December 21st. The Tigers fall to 8-1 on the season with the loss.
