The Proctor Rails dropped to 0-2 on the young season, falling to the North Shore Storm, 7-6, in a high scoring affair.

The Rails took an early advantage in the 1st period with Jarek Nordquist scoring off passes from Evan O’Connor and Jordan Linder. Proctor made it 2-0 by the four minute mark in the 1st period when Jake Malec and Tanner Bergman found Derek Dahlgren, who found the back of the net. The North Shore responded when Justin Ketola assisted Jake Swanson, making it a 2-1 score in favor of Proctor at the end of the 1st.

In the 2nd period, the Storm would tie it up at 2-2 when Trey Fleck score just a minute into the period. Proctor’s Dahlgren found the back of the net for the second time in the game, this time on a power play at the 6:30 minute, making it 3-2. Proctor would score again, just 21 seconds later when Evan O’Connor scored a goal assisted by Linder, to push the lead to 4-2. Proctor kept the gas pedal down when Linder scored 3 minutes later to extend the Rails lead to 5-2. The North Shore would cut into the Rail lead again with Chad Nordean sneaking one past the goalie, making it 5-3 going into the 3rd period.

4 minutes into the 3rd period, the Storm would make it a one goal game with Ketola scored again. Ketola would make it a hat trick scoring on a power play and tying the game at 5-5. The Storm would then gain the advantage with Nordean scoring at the 10 minute mark, making it a 6-5 lead for the North Shore. The Rails wouldn’t stop there, however, when Malec scored the equalizer just 3 minutes later to make it 6-6. Daniel Anderson would then score the game winner for the North Shore, just 9 seconds later, to give the Storm the hard earned 7-6 victory.

Will Peterson stopped 22 shots in the win for the Storm, while Matt Johnson blocked 27 in the loss for the Rails.

The Storm improve to 2-0 on the season and will look to remain unbeaten when they travel to play Ely/Northeast Range on December 1st at 7:00pm. The Rails (0-2) will look for their first win this season when they host St. Paul Highland Park on November 27th at 2:00pm.
