Northland Sports Girls Basketball Preview

Its almost tip-off time in the Northland, with teams opening games right around the corner! NSO will preview what is in store for another fantastic season of girls basketball!

Now in Section 5A, last years section 7A runners-up, the Cromwell Cardinals, will look to return to the big game. They return three seniors and three juniors from last seasons squad. The Cardinals will open up their season on November 30th when they host Cherry with a tip of 7:15pm.

In Section 7A, the Floodwood Polar Bears will look to make a run in the playoffs. The Polar Bears will return five seniors this season. They will open their season up on November 30th when they take on the Barnum Bombers at home. The season will tip off at 7:15pm.

Also in Section 7A is the Carlton Bulldogs. They will look to recover from last season and gain an early season win on December 3rd when they travel to play the Cromwell Cardinals at 7:15pm. The Bulldogs will return four seniors and three juniors this season.

In 7AA, the two time defending section champions, the Esko Eskomos, will look to make it three in a row. The Eskomos will return most of their roster from last season, bringing back three seniors and eight juniors. They open their season up on December 1st, taking on the Cloquet Lumberjacks at home, tipping off at 7:15pm.

Also in 7AA, is the the Barnum Bombers. The Bombers will have a new coach in Dustin Collelo this season. The Bombers will be young this season, with just one senior and one junior on the roster. They open their season up on November 30th, on the road against Floodwood. Tip-off will be at 7:15pm.

In 7AAA, the Hermantown Hawks, will look to advance to the section finals. The Hawks have not submitted a roster yet. They will open the season on December 1st at home against Duluth East. Tip-off will be at 7:30pm

Also in 7AAA, the Cloquet Lumberjacks, will look to make a deep run into the playoffs. No roster has been submitted for the Lumberjacks. They will open their season on December 1st when they travel to play Esko at 7:15pm.

In 7AAAA, the Duluth East Greyhounds will look to improve off last season. The Greyhounds will bring back seven seniors and four juniors. They will look to get an early win, when they open their season on the road on November 28th against Blaine. Tip will be at 2:30pm
