The Lumberjacks were looking to add to their fast start on the 2015 – 2016 season as the Jacks who started 2-0 on the season saw the Orono Spartans end the hopes of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton moving to 3-0 with a 2-0 lead.

In a contest which saw both teams battle evenly through two periods, saw no score and the Lumberjacks had out-shot the Spartans 13-12 after two periods.

Both goalies Erin Genereau for the Lumberjacks, and Madeline Carlson for the Spartans were rock solid in the nets.

The third period was also an and tuck battle until late in the third period when Grace Limesand scored with 1:45 remaining to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. The Spartans extended the lead 30 seconds later to ensure the victory.

Genereau stopped 19 shots in the loss, while Carlson made 20 saves in the shut out victory.
