NSO – NEWS RELEASE

In the waning moments of the Class AAAA championship game at TCF Bank Stadium, Pierz senior running back Noah Boah took a look around the open-air facility on a glorious Saturday afternoon and was suddenly overwhelmed.

It got cooler moments later when the Pioneers completed a 36-8 victory over Jackson County Central. Boser rushed for 107 yards and scored two touchdowns, and he had one touchdown reception for 49 yards to power the Pioneers (13-0) to their second championship and first since 2004.
Lane Girtz led the Pioneers’ ground game with 119 yards and Aaron Weber completed 3 of 7 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
The Pioneers had plenty of both at an opportune time of the season.
Pierz compiled 426 yards, 301 of them on the ground. The Pioneers averaged 6.3 yards per rush and 20.4 yards per passing play. The Pioneers held the Huskies to 281 total yards and limited them to a 4-of-11 conversion rate on third down.
Boser’s 3-yard run early in the third quarter gave the Pioneers a 22-8 lead and set the stage for two more touchdowns that would follow in the fourth quarter.
Avery Henderson led Jackson County Central with 89 yards rushing and Easton Bahr completed 5 of 12 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Pierz had the ball about half as long as Jackson County Central did in the first half, but that meant nothing on the scoreboard.
The Pioneers built a 15-8 lead at the break with short bust-style scoring plays.
Aaron Weber completed just 2 of 5 passes for 124 yards, but both went for touchdowns. His 49-yard TD strike to Noah Besser gave the Pioneers a 15-8 lead with 4:57 left in the second quarter.
Pierz opened the scoring on a 75-yard pass from Weber to Michael Meyer, the exclamation point on a 3-play, 77-yard drive on the game’s first possession.
In between, Jackson County Central grabbed an 8-7 lead behind a 37-yard scoring pass from Easton Bahr to Ryan Salzwedel with 1:04 left in the first quarter.
Jackson County Central’s Avery Henderson rushed for 64 yards and Keegan Moore, a top prep wrestler in Minnesota, chipped in 51 yards.
Boser paced Pierz’s running game in the first half with 59 yards and Lane Girtz added 50.
