Hermantown Loses In Quarterfinals

After an impressive undefeated season heading into playoffs, the Hermantown Hawks had their eyes on the state title.  Those hopes would fall short however, as they lost a nail-biter to Faribault in shoot-out fashion.

The Hawks, whose roster has 12 seniors on it, jumped out to a fast lead, as Daniel Hedstrom scored in the 14th minute.  Siji Gonzalez would also find the net, scoring in the 37th minute to bring the lead 2-0.

In the second half Faribault would come racing back, as Eric Gannon netted a goal in the 52nd minute, and Abdullahi Farah scored in the 79th.  The Falcons would go on to win in a shoot-out after there was no scoring for either side in the overtimes.

Devin Lenz ended with 5 saves for Hermantown, while Adam Johannsen would finish with 17 for Faribault.
