Cardinals Win Season Finale

The Cromwell Cardinals finished the regular season ranked 10th in 9-man and with a 7-1 record after defeating Onamia 28-6 on Friday night.

Cromwell kicked the game off with a big time play when Zion Smith and Eli Warpula connected on a 60 yard pass play to move the Cardinals up 7-0 early. Later in the 1st quarter, Smith would plunge in from 5 yards out to move the score to 13-0 in favor of the Cardinals.

The halftime score would be 19-0 after Warpula scampered in the end zone from 10 yards away. The Cardinals would then be held scoreless in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter. Zion Smith successfully completed a quarterback sneak to make it 25-0. Carlos Lemoine would then hit a 30 yard field goal to push it to 28-0. Cromwell lost their shutout in the 4th when Onamia’s Sam Virnig found the end zone on a 15 yard run.

The Cardinals (7-1) ended the regular season on a 5 game winning streak. Their opponents in the Section 5 Nine Man tournament are still to be determined.
