Jeb Leone used his quick feet and strong arm to lead Cloquet to a 58-8 win over Duluth Marshall in high school football on Friday night at Rol Bromberg Field in Cloquet.

With a minute and half gone in the opening quarter Leone set the stage for the game when he bolted 30-yards for a score giving Cloquet a 7-0 lead after the Robbie Sobczak extra point kick.

The Jacks went up 15-0 when Leone scampered 24 yards off the right side of the line and then for good measure he handled a low snap from center on the extra point attempt by running in for the two-point conversion.

Before halftime Leone also hit sophomore Mitchell Gerlach with a beautiful pass down the middle of the field that covered 33 yards giving the Jacks a 22-0 lead after the Sobczak extra point boot.

Before the first half ended it was Leone again scoring, this time on a 13-yard gallop and Cloquet took a 29-0 lead into intermission.

The lone bright spot for the Hilltoppers came on their first play from scrimmage in the second half when Jack Burt cut down the left side line for a 69 yard touchdown run that cut the Jacks lead to 29-8 just seconds into the second half.

Cloquet responded in the second half to Burt’s score with touchdowns by Spencer Wehr, Joe Gotchnik, Tyler Moose and Dylan Czech as well as scoring two points on a safety giving the Jacks the margin of victory.
