Two first half goals propelled the Cloquet Lumberjacks to a 3-2 win over Proctor in Girls soccer action Tuesday night in Proctor.

The Jacks got out to a quick start in the 1st half with Rachel Hammond scoring at the 7 minute mark off a Kayla Baker assist, boosting the Jacks to an early 1-0 lead. They’d make it 2-0 at the 38 minute when Kayla Baker drilled a penalty kick in, moving it to 2-0 at the half.

Early in the 2nd half, Baker tallied another assist, this time to Anna Fossen, who found the back of the net at the 45 minute mark, giving the Lumberjacks a 3-0 lead. Proctor wouldn’t give up, however, with Madisyn Diggs scoring at the 57th minute from a Megan Ecklund pass. They’d score again, just two minutes later when Ashley Hanson connected with Lexie DeWall to cut the Jacks lead to 3-2, but that would be all the scoring the game would see, as the Lumberjacks left victorious.

Ali Chalberg stopped 6 shots for the Lumberjacks, while Chiara DeLuca blocked 14 for Proctor.

The Lumberjacks move to 12-2-1 on the season and will be back in action on October 8th at home at 6pm against their rivals, the Esko Eskomos. Proctor falls to 7-7 on the season and will travel to play the Two Harbors Agates on October 9th at 6pm.
