Travis Carruth passed for four touchdowns Friday night as the Hibbing Bluejackets stopped the Cloquet Lumberjacks by a score of 27-17 in Hibbing.

Hibbing got off to a fast start when Carruth connected with Jordan Minerich on a 48 yard pass in the 1st quarter to make it 7-0. In the 2nd quarter, Carruth tossed another touchdown, this time to Jon Boggio on a 5 yard route to make it 13-0. Cloquet answered that score when Joey Gotchnik scampered in from 5 yards away to make it 13-7.  Carruth continued to air it out, this time just from 4 yards out connecting with Jake Bestul. Carruth then connected with Jake Jolowsky to convert the 2 point conversion, making it 21-7. To end the half, Robbie Sobczak hit a 24 yard field goal, making it 21-10.

To start the second half, Carruth and Minerich connected again, this time on a 13 yard pass, making it 27-10. Cloquet would score again with Gotchnik scoring from 5 yards out, but it wouldn’t be enough as Hibbing would come out victorious, 27-17.

Hibbing moved to 4-3 with the win. The Lumberjacks drop to 2-5 with the loss and will look to win their regular season finale when they host the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers (0-7) on October 9th.
