The Cloquet Lumberjacks edged the Esko Eskomos Tuesday night in girls volleyball action at Cloquet High School, winning in 5 matches.

The Eskomos took the first set, winning 25-18. Cloquet came storming back, winning an intense second match, 27-25 to knot it up at 1-1. Esko took the third set in another close game, winning 26-24. Cloquet would then hit a hot streak, dominating the Eskomos in the next two matches, winning 25-13 and 15-5 to secure the victory.

Anna Hansmeyer, Kassidy Steen, and Taylor Leyrer led the way for the Lumberjacks. Hansmeyer racked up 16 kills, Steen tallied 13, and Leyrer added 11 while also recording 16 digs.

Taylor Robinson had five ace serves for the Eskomos and added 37 assists in the loss.

The Lumberjacks move to 11-4 with the victory. They will be back in action on October 1st when they host the Denfeld Hunters. The Eskomos drop to 5-8 on the season and will look to bounce back on October 1st when they travel to play the MLWR Rebels.
