MLWR Plow Past Crosby-Ironton

The Rebels from Moose Lake-Willow River moved to 5-1 on the season after topping Crosby-Ironton, 50-28. The Rebels were led by Bryceton Butkiewicz who tallied 3 touchdowns in the game.

MLWR went up 8-0 early when Thomas Hansen found the end zone on a 42 yard run. He also converted the 2 point attempt. Butkiewicz got his first touchdown of the night from just 2 yards out, making it 14-0 in the 2nd quarter.

Butkiewicz would then show his speed, scoring on a 94 yard run, pushing the Rebel lead to 20-0. Hansen scored his second touchdown on a 38 yard scamper. He once again converted the 2 point attempt, making it 28-0 in favor of the Rebels. Butkiewicz scored on another long run, this time on a 77 yard run, making it 34-0.

Crosby-Ironton finally cracked the scoreboard when Noah Gindorff connected with Ben Jordan on a 50 yard pass to make it 34-6. Gindorff threw for another touchdown in the half, this time connecting with Jake Larson from 6 yards away. Larson plunged in for the 2 points, cutting the Rebels lead to 34-14 heading into the half.

In the 3rd quarter, Dillon Louzek scored from 2 yards out. Joe Weidendorf converted the 2 points, pushing the Rebel lead to 42-14. Louzek scored once again in the 4th quarter, this time on an 8 yard run. Weidendorf converted the 2 point on that touchdown as well, moving the Rebels lead to 50-14.

Crosby-Ironton’s Gindorff plunged in on a quarterback sneak from a yard away, making it 50-20. Gindorff connected on a 30 yard pass with Larson. Gindorff then converted the 2 points, making it a final of 50-28.

The Rebels (5-1), who piled up 567 offensive yards, will be back in action on October 2nd when they host the Aitkin Gobblers (3-3). Crosby-Ironton falls to 1-5 on the season.
