The Hermantown Hawks captured the Crosby-Ironton Ranger volleyball tournament Saturday in Crosby. The Hawks defeated the Rebels of Moose Lake-Willow River in the Championship match in two straight over the Rebels.

The Hawks who went undefeated in the tournament opened play Saturday with a two set victory over Upsala, that was followed by another 2-0 win over Cass Lake-Bena.

Following Pool play it was the Hawks topping Pine Rive Backus again by a 2-0 margin. The win over the Tigers set up a Championship match against MLWR and as they had done all day the Hawks won in two straight to capture first place without losing a set all day long.

The Rebels who finished second opened pool play with 2-0 wins over both Staples-Motley and Barnum. The Rebels knocked off tournament host Crosby-Ironton in the semi finals before dropping the match to Hermantown.

Pine Rive-Backus took third while the Rangers placed fourth. Barnum placed eighth overall while East Central was twelfth on the day.
