The Northland was once again slammed with local match ups on Thursday night, with eight games taking place throughout the area.

The Carlton Bulldogs took on their rivals, the Wrenshall Wrens, beating them in four matches, 3-1. The Bulldogs won the first match, 25-18, dropped the second hatch 23-25, and won the next two 25-14 and 25-12 to move to 2-0 on the year. Macy Belich had 15 kills for the Bulldogs and Lindsay Ermatinger and Amanda Groth both notched 10 a piece.

Cloquet topped Eveleth-Gilbert in three straight matches, winning 25-17, 25-19, and 25-23. Kassidy Steen tallied 10 kills in the win along with 4 blocks. Teammate Anna Hansmeyer notched 8 kills.

The Barnum Bombers fell to the Cook County Vikings in three straight sets, losing 25-18, 25-16, and 25-6. Alyssa Hunter had 6 kills in the loss.

Cromwell topped Silver Bay on Thursday, winning in four matches. The Cardinals won the first two games 25-15 and 25-11 before falling 22-25. They would win the fourth match 25-16 to secure the win. Bailey Gronner racked up 15 kills in the win and Teana Hakamaki notched 13 kills.

Hermantown fell to Grand Rapids in three consecutive games, losing 25-16, 25-10, and 25-16. Hailey Menzel had 9 kills in the loss.

East Central topped the Proctor Rails in four matches, winning the first 25-16, dropping the second 22-25, and winning the third and fourth by scores of 25-12 and 25-6. Abby Rohweder had 8 kills in the loss for the Rails.

The Panthers of South Ridge took down the Esko Eskomos in four matches, winning 25-14 and 25-21 in the first two sets, dropping the third set 23-25, and winning the last 25-15. Lindsey Janke led the way with a strong performance of 12 kills in the win.

The MLWR Rebels fell to the Two Harbors Agates in four matches, dropping the first 20-25, winning the second 25-22, and losing the next two, 17-25 and 9-25. Ayla Lemke had 10 kills in the win for the Agates. Ally Bode had 10 kills in the loss for the Rebels.
