It was all about defense for the Cook County Vikings from the start. The first drive of the game saw the Bulldogs snap the ball over the punters head, resulting in a safety and free kick to the Vikings.

There was much action after that though, as the game would see Cook County turn it over on downs, followed by another Carlton punt. After four short plays, Cook County would turn it over on downs against, giving the bulldogs a chance to take the lead.

Carlton would fail to do so, failing to convert on a fourth down. The Viking would then pounce on the opportunity on offense, scoring on a run by Senior Quarterback Leo Johnson. The next drive for the Bulldogs would prove to be a hurtful one, as they were sacked in their own end zone for another safety. That would end the first quarter with a score in favor of the Vikings, 10-0.

The start of the second saw both teams team give it up on fourth down, which would then result in a Rory Bakke touchdown run for the Vikings. Carlton would then go on to fumble the ball right before halftime, leaving the score 16-0. The third quarter started out very slow for both sides, resulting in 2 straight 4-and outs for both squads. The third quarter would end with neither team scoring.

The Dog’s started off nicely in the fourth quarter, until a nice play on fourth down by the Vikings, which resulted in a dropped Jackson Mickle pass for the turnover on downs. Cook County would then march down the field and score on a nice reverse play score by Rory Bakke, followed by the 2-point conversion, to put the score to a final 30-0.

The Bulldogs (1-1) will look to rebound, visiting the McGregor Mercs next Friday, while Cook County (1-1) will try to add another win, as they square off at Mesabi Academy.
