The Cloquet Lumberjacks won their home opener against Virginia behind 428 yards of offense, winning 41-8.

Cloquet got out to a dominant start when Kobe Kadelbach plunged in from three yards to get an early 7-0 lead. Jeb Leone would follow, trucking 55 yards to the end zone, increasing the lead to 13-0. They would make it 20-0 by the end of the 1st quarter after Kadelbach found the end zone again, this time just from two yards out.

They would start the 2nd quarter on the same foot as Leone connected on a short three yard pass to Wyatt Benson to make it 27-0. It’d be a 34-0 halftime score after Joey Gotchnik bolted 51 yards for the score.

Virginia would break the shutout in the 4th quarter when Beau Foix connected with Bob Zupetz from 6 yards away to make it 34-8. Cloquet would score once more in the win, when Tyler Moose ran 45 yards to the end zone to seal the 41-8 victory.

Quarterback Jeb Leone ran for 83 yards and a touchdown in the win. Teammate Kole Kadelbach added 54 yards on the ground along with two touchdowns.

The Lumberjacks (1-1) will look for another victory on September 4th when they travel to play Duluth Denfeld (0-2). Virginia is now 0-2 on the year.
