The Carlton Bulldogs and the South Ridge Panthers both advanced into the section 7A quarterfinals on Tuesday with wins in the opening round of the section 7A opening round of the playoffs.

Carlton knocked off the Floodwood Polar Bears for the second time this season, as Carlton rolled to a 10-0 five inning win at Chub Lake Park in Carlton.

Grace Macor was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs and Brianna Walton had three hits including a double and a RBI for Carlton.

Carlton will face Deer River in the section quarterfinals in Grand Rapids on Thursday.

The South Ridge Panthers picked up a 15 – 7 win over the Vikings in Culver to move on and face Chisholm in the next round.

Mallory Thibault was the winning pitcher for South Ridge who improves to 14-3 on the season. Mikayla Olesiak led the Panthers with two extra bases hits in the victory.
