Bernsdorf Named All Region

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica sophomore outfielder Trevor Bernsdorf (Meadowlands, Minn./Floodwood HS (Doane) ) and junior pitcher Daniel Wood (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS ) have been named All-Midwest Region by D3baseball.com; it was announced on Monday.

Trevor  BernsdorfBernsdorf, who was named the Midwest Region Rookie of the Year last season by D3baseball.com, earns second team all-region accolades this season. Wood was named to the all-region third team.

Bernsdorf was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Player of the Year last week. The two-time All-UMAC performer led the conference with .507 batting average, .560 on-base percentage, .753 slugging percentage, 32 runs scored, 31 RBIs, five triples and 55 total bases in league games.

He ranked third among Midwest Region players with 49 RBIs on the year. Bernsdorf had a team-best 19 multi-hit games and had a 23-game hitting streak at one point, which was the fourth-longest in program history.

Daniel  WoodWood was named the UMAC Pitcher of the Year last week and earns all-region accolades for the first time in his career. After appearing in only nine games as a sophomore, Wood started 10 games this season and finished with a 9-1 record, winning his first nine starts.

He finished third in the region with a 1.56 earned run average and led the region with a 0.84 WHIP, which also ranks in the top 10 in NCAA Division III. The 1.56 ERA is third-lowest in program history.
