Conklin paces Lumberjacks over Rebels

Brandon Conklin pitched a four hitter Friday afternoon as the Lumberjacks defeated the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels 2-0 in a section battle at Ed Mettner Field.

The Lumberjacks took advantage of three Rebels errors to score their two runs and pick up their 9th win of the season.

Dylan Johnson scored the games first run in the bottom of the first inning has he reached on a throwing error and would later score on a sac fly from Conklin.

Gabe Sorenson scored the second Lumberjack run in the bottom of the fourth inning when he scored on a fly ball that was dropped in the outfield.

Sorenson, Conklin, Gavin Takkunen, Trent Anderson, Austin Parenteau, Dylan Johnson and Alec Norrgard all had hits in the Lumberjack victory.

Wyatt Lampel had two of the Rebels hits in the loss, while Teddy Ryan and Jesse Granfors had the other hits for the Rebels.

Conklin Struck out eight batters, walked one to pick up the win for Cloquet. Teddy Ryan allowed 2 runs both unearned while striking out 4 he walked 4 and allowed seven hits.

Cloquet improves to 9-3 on the season, and the Rebels fall to 10-5
