Hawks Pick up First Win

The Hermantown Hawks broke a nine game losing streak to start this spring season, as the Hawks came from behind to beat the Duluth Denfeld Hunters 12-10 in a Lake Superior Conference contest Friday at Hermantown.

The win was the first of the season as Hermantown will have three more home games in a row as they hope to keep the winning streak alive.

Wyatt Sorenson earned the victory for the Hawks, and he also drove in the game winning run for Hermantown.  Ryan Potswald was the losing pitcher for the Hunters.

The Hunters offensively was led by Andy Kaptonak who was 3-4 with a double and 5 RBI’s in the loss. Jake DeCaro was 2-5 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Nathan Keiper and Jesse Jacques each had three hits for Hermantown and each also had a double. Thomas Madison was 2-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s.

The Hawks will look to make it two straight when they will face Ashland Monday afternoon in Hermantown, the Hunters will look to rebound Tuesday when they will face Cloquet at Ed Mettner Field in Cloquet.
