Ashley Taipale Throws Perfect Game In Doubleheader

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters hosted the Hibbing Bluejackets and Virginia Blue Devils at Wade Field on Thursday night, and what a night it would be for pitcher Ashley Taipale.

In the first game of the night, the Hunters topped the Bluejackets 10-0 in 6 innings. Ashley Taipale was perfect on the mound, pitching 6 innings, allowing no runs on no hits, while striking out 14 and walking none! She would help herself at the plate as well, going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s. Shelby Johnson also went 3-4 for the Hunters with a double and 2 RBI’s.

In game two, the Hunters would top the Blue Devils 16-0 in 5 innings. Taipale would also get the win in this game, going 5 innings, allowing 4 hits. She would strike out 8 and walk 1 in this win. But she had another great game at the plate, going 4-4 with a home run and 4 RBI’s. Maddy White went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and Maddy Kessler went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s in the win.

With the two wins, the Hunters improve their record to 7-3 and will play in a tournament on May 2nd.
