Gobblers Squeak Past Hawks

Hermantown traveled down Hwy 210 to face Section 7A rival Aitkin and came away one match short, losing 4-3 to the Gobblers.
Hermantown got their wins at second and third singles and third doubles. Reid Johnson lost his first set 3-6 at second before rallying for the win with 6-3, 6-4 scores. Luke Hyjek moved up from fourth to third to take the straight set win 7-5 and 6-2.
The final win for the Hawks saw Logan Zierden and Devon Lenz finish out a third set tie break 10-8 after splitting the first two sets 6-7 (5) and 6-2 as the match had already been decided.

The Hawks lost at first and fourth singles as well as first and second doubles. Isaac Hiner dropped both games 2-6, 4-6 at first while Jared Greisbock lost also in two straight 4-6, 3-6. First doubles also lost in two straight with Sam Edgerton and Mason Morris going down 3-6, 1-6 and second doubles Siji Gonzales and Joe DeFrance played into a second set tie break before losing 1-6, 6-7 (5).

The Hawks practice Wednesday before setting off on nine straight weekday matches with six of those on the road.
