Errors Cost Rebels

On a cool windy Friday afternoon the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels met up with the five time defending section 7A champion Cherry Tigers and in a pitcher dual it would be costly errors which cost the Rebels the contest as Cherry beat the Rebels by a score of 2-0.

The Tigers took advantage of two costly Rebels miscues as Cherry scored the games only 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Joely Roberts scored the games first run as she scored from third base as she was squeezed in on a bunt from Abby Mayry. Roberts who was on third following a misplayed fly ball in the Rebels outfield. The Tigers made it 2-0 when Mayry scored following her attempt to steal third the throw went into left field allowing Mayry to score the second run.

The Tiger with the two run lead went on to shutout the Rebels as Roberts was the winning pitcher Friday allowing only two hits in the win.

Ally Bode only allowed one hit in the loss for the Rebels as she struck-out 12 batters in the contest.

The Rebels fall to 5-2 on the season and they will face Rush City Monday afternoon in Willow River.

The Tiger remain unbeaten as they improve to 8-0 overall and they will face the Chisholm Bluestreaks Monday afternoon in Chisholm.
