Jacks Take Pine City Title

The Cloquet girls softball team picked up three wins en route to capturing the Pine City Girls Softball Tournament Saturday.

The Lumberjacks picked up victories over Pine City, Proctor, and St. Croix Falls to go undefeated and capture the top spot. Cloquet need extra innings twice Saturday as the Lumberjacks beat Pine City and Proctor in extra innings.

Cloquet beat Pine City by a score of 5-4 in 8 innings as Kaylee McMillen picked up the win for Cloquet, she was the winning pitcher in all three Lumberjack victories.

Cloquet also knocked off Proctor 6-4 in 8 innings, and shut out St. Croix 11-0 i the third game Saturday.

McMillen allowed 19 hits in three games while striking out 23 batters on the day, while only allowing 4 walks in three games.

Makayla Langenbrunner went 7-12 on the day, including two doubles and driving in 5 runs. Abbey Wangen went 7-10 overall and she also added 2 doubles while knocking in 6 runs.

The Lumberjacks improve to 7-2 overall on the season and they will host Eveleth-Gilbert Monday afternoon at Braun Park in Cloquet.
