Coach Kayelyn McDonald has the boys playing some spring tennis for the first time since the merger with Duluth Central. They have a full retinue of the 10 players needed and are enjoying matches against fellow Lake Superior teams as well as range teams.
The team has Caleb Wolfe playing at first singles, Jackson Holl at second, Noah Slade at third, and Quinten Rimolde at fourth.
In doubles, the Hunters have Kong Xiong and Conor Reindl at first, Andrew Nguyen and Matt Reese at second, and Esse Ovadje and Xue Moua at third.
They continue to play home matches at the Central courts until the city completes the new courts out across the avenue from Laura MacArthur elementary school in the old field that once held the old school torn down under the red plan.
The team recently lost matches to Hermantown and Eveleth by scores of 7-0. They travel to Hermantown on Friday for a rematch. The tennis community welcomes these new players and coach and hope they are able to continue to grow and develop the program. Word is that there will be the opportunity to play some summer tennis to grow the sport in the west side of town.
