April 5th, 2015

With the snow off the ground and the temperatures warming up, it is time for baseball season to begin!

The South Ridge Panthers made it to the Section 7A finals a year ago with an 11-9 record, but fell to Ely in the Championship. The Panthers will look to return to the Section finals, but they will have a tough road as they only return two seniors and six juniors from last years team, but will look to get strong pitching again this year from Vincent Wood. The Panthers open their season up against the Wrenshall Wrens at home on April 7th.

The Floodwood Polar Bears are looking to make another trip to State, as they did in 2013 and they will look for Riley Bernsdorf to lead the way. The Polar Bears went 8-4 last season and lost a heartbreaker in the first round of the section finals. They will look to bounce back this season as they open up their season on April 7th against the MLWR Rebels.

The Barnum Bombers went 9-6 last season, but graduated 7 seniors from last years roster. They will look for Chris Carlson to be their ace on the mound this season, as they open up the year on the road against Onamia on April 10th.

The Carlton Bulldogs went 3-8 last season, but are looking to reach the Section Finals for the second time in three years. The Bulldogs only graduated one senior last season, and will return the other 8 from last years team. Carlton travels to take on Mountain Iron-Buhl on April 6th.

The McGregor/Cromwell Mercuries went 2-11 last year and will look to improve on that record this season. They will have another young roster this season, but it’ll be one with experience. They open their season up in Grand Marais when they take on Cook County on April 7th.

The Wrenshall Wrens went 2-9 last season and will be a team filled with seniors, as they have 10 returning this season. They begin their season on April 7th when they travel to take on the South Ridge Panthers.
