Three years ago, Anders Broman scored 71 points against Maranatha Christian Academy, which was the 2nd highest scoring game by an individual in Minnesota state history. The key word in that sentence is “was”, as younger brother and Winthrop commit, Bjorn Broman, scored a crazy 74 points, also against Maranatha, in a 109-100 loss.

The Lions trailed the Mustangs 52-40 at the half. Broman would do everything in his power to keep the Lions in the game, breaking double and triple teams as he found a way to get the ball in the hoop, but it wouldn’t be enough despite the Lions outscoring the Mustange 60-57 in the second half, as they fell 109-100 to the #3 ranked team in Class A.

As mentioned previously, Broman led the way with 74 points. Along with score 74% of his teams points, Bjorn also had a crazy shooting performance from beyond the arc, hitting 15 threes in the loss. Marc Chiu followed Broman by scoring 8 points, Josh Klun tallied 7, Sam Easty added 5, and Ben Erickson, Colt Bates, and Kenny Dudek all scored 2.

Jeremiah Hanson led the way for the Mustangs, scoring 38 points. Jake Meyen followed with 22, Cameron Monson pitched in 18, and Damario Armstrong hit 13 in the victory.

The Lions ended their regular season with a 17-9 record and will play the 6th seeded Carlton Bulldogs on February 26th in Hermantown. The game will tip-off at 5:45pm. The Mustangs ended their season with a 23-2 record.
