Newman Breaks School Record

Friday night would be a special one for Barnum senior, Brandon Newman, who is averaging over 27 points per game, as he would score 41 points in the teams 76-45 trouncing of Two Harbors and he would become the schools all-time leading scorer, passing Colleen McKay.

The Bombers led the Agates 37-25 in the first half, but turned up their defensive intensity in the second half, outscoring the Agates 39-20 to secure the large victory.

Newman, who scored 41 points in the win, knocked down 6 threes in the victory. Chris Carlson and Hunter Fetters followed with 10 points each, while Nathan Jelinek scored 5, Dacotah Haley tallied 4, and Mitchell Weller, Andrew Naslund, and Colton Ziegler all had 2.

In the loss for the Agates, Alex Lemke had a team high 19 points. Kyler Kinn followed with 8 points, Jayden Ruberg and Derek Blair both scored 3, and Calvin Luhrsen, Davey Keranen, John Peer Jr., Ollie Carpenter, Shannon Lysaker, and Tim Bott all scored 2 points each.

The Bombers ended their regular season with a 25-1 record. They grabbed the top seed in the Section 7AA playoffs and will host Aitkin on February 24th at 7:00pm. The Agates ended their season with a 8-17 record and will play the #2 seeded Esko Eskomos in Esko on February 24th with a tip of 7:00pm.
