The Pine City-Rush City Dragons broke a 4-4 tie as they scored 4 third period goals as the Dragons ended the Moose Lake Area Rebels boys hockey season as the Dragons beat the Rebels 8-5 in Pine City Tuesday night at the Pine City Civic Center.

Brendan Westbrook scored the hat trick for the Dragons, and Jake Neria scored one goal an added 3 assists for the Dragons in the three goal win.

The Dragons led 2-1 after the third period, and the game was tied at 4-4 after two periods, but the third period coming out was going to be decided early and by the power play. Jed Johnson scored the go ahead goal just 2:46 into the period and that would be followed up by three power play goals by Pine City which would be the difference in the period.

Bryceton Butkiewicz and Teddy Ryan each scored two goals in loss, and it was Devin Murphy adding the other Rebel goal.

Luke Murphy stopped 38 shots in the win for Pine City who advances to meet the top seed Spring Lake Park on Thursday. Logan McNaulty finished with 33 saves in the loss for Moose Lake.
