Hawks Win 15th in a Row

The Hermantown Hawks won their 15th straight game Tuesday night as the Hawks beat Virginia -MIB by a score of 5-1 at Hermantown Hawkdome.

Early in the 1st period, VMIB got out to the lead when Jake Robillard scored on a power play near the 3 minute mark. After that it was all Hawks as Nate Pionk scored a short handed goal at the 5:30 mark to tie it at 1-1. 10 minutes into the 1st, Cole Koepke scored the go ahead and winning goal on a power play.

Ryan Kero would continue the Hawks scoring in the 2nd half, hitting the back of the net near the 7 minute mark of the period. Matt Valure made it 4-1 with his goal at the 9 minute mark and just a little under a minute later, Koepke scored his second goal of the night to make it a 5-1 final.

VMIB’s goalie Lucas Murray stopped an impressive 36 shots on the evening, while Hermantowns Luke Olson blocked 20 shot in the win.

The Hawks are now 18-2 on the season and will look to extend their winning streak on January 29th when they travel to play the CEC Lumberjacks. VMIB is now 7-13 on the season.
