Lady Jacks Fast Start Earns Win

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton jumped out to a quick lead and never relinquished that advantage in taking an impressive 4-2 road win in girls hockey against Hibbing-Chisholm on Monday night.

Cassandra Inman scored the first goal of the game at 6:20 of the first period on an assist by Courtney Ketola and Rachel Macaulay added another goal at 10:34 of the first period on an assist by Mikayla Baker to make the score 2-0 at the end of one period.

Baker added the lone goal of the second period to push the lead to 3-0 with Makayla Langenbrunner adding the lone assist on the goal.

H/C cut the lead to 3-1 at the 3:40 mark of the third period on a goal by Lilly Rewertz, but CEC responded less than a minute later at 4:29 on a goal by Baker to push the Jacks lead to 4-1. The Blue Jackets fought to within 4-2 when Madi Sanders added a power play goal, but the Jacks got solid goal tending from Stacy Nelson who finished with 30 saves on 32 shots.

CEC put 22 shots on Megan Frider who finished with 18 saves for H/C.

The Lumberjacks have one more regular season before beginning the playoffs next week.
