Class 1A top-ranked Hermantown improved to 17-2-0 overall with a workmanlike, 4-2 victory at White Bear Lake on Friday night.

Howie Blog.com Preseason Player of the Year Nate Pionk scored a pair of first-period goals for the Hawks, who also received goals from Eric Gotz and Wyatt Aamodt.

Cole Koepke added two assists for the Hawks, and Luke Olson stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced in goal for the victory.

Hermantown will play host to Virginia/Mt. Iron-Buhl (7-12-0) on Tuesday before visiting Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (8-10-1) Thursday and Rogers (6-12-1) Saturday.
