Cofield Earns POW for 2nd Time

JAIDEN COFIELD REPEATS AS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Women’s Basketball student athlete Jaiden Cofield was named Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division Player of the Week for games played January 12-18, 2015. This is Jaiden’s second time this season being named Player of the Week. She is a freshman from Cloquet, MN.

Cofield averaged 29 points, 19 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 4 steals per game in two games for the Thunder last week. Her most impressive single-game stats of the season came last Saturday when Cofield scored 34 points, including going 11-for-14 from the free throw line, grabbed 21 rebounds, and contributed 8 assists in the Thunder’s 79-59 win over Vermilion Community College. Cofield currently leads the MCAC Northern Division statistical leaders in scoring with a 19.5 average per game, and in rebounding with an 11.7 average per game. She is second in free throw average at 81.5% made on 108 attempts.

The Thunder Women’s Basketball team is back in conference action on Friday evening hosting Hibbing Community College at 6:00 p.m., and again on Saturday afternoon in a 1:00 p.m. game vs. Rainy River Community College.

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The women’s basketball conference includes 16 teams which are divided geographically into Northern and Southern Divisions.
