Bulldogs Shoot Past Mercs

The Carlton Bulldogs welcomed the McGregor Mercuries to town on Tuesday night for their second match-up of the season. The Bulldogs beat the Mercs 74-52 on December 19th and did much of the same in the second meeting, winning 71-60.

The Bulldogs held a 36-29 advantage when the halftime buzzer sounded and did much of the same in the second half, outscoring McGregor 35-31 while on their way to victory.

Cade Pierson led the Bulldogs on the evening, scoring 17 points while sniping 5 threes in the victory. Following Pierson was Eric Soderstrom scoring 15, Adam Ermatinger tallying 13, and Tyler Ojibway hitting double digits with 11. Dominic Bennett added 8 for the Bulldogs, Jackson Mickle pitched in 6, and Efren Morales-Cruz topped with off with 1.

In the loss for the Mercs, Billy Staska had a team high 15 points, followed by Auston Anderson with 13 annd Cole Gelhar and Carson Passer, each with 11. Zach Hawkinson and Jordan Mickelson also scored, each pitching in 4, and Johnny Huspek rounded it out with 2.

The Bulldogs improve to 5-9 on the year and will look to improve on that record when they meet the Two Harbors Agates on January 23rd. The Mercuries drop to 5-10 on the season and will look to bounce back on January 22nd when they play the high scoring Lakeview Christian Academy Lions.
