Panthers Top Mercs

The South Ridge Panthers hosted the McGregor Mercuries on Thursday evening, beating them 53-42.

The Panthers got out to the 23-20 lead at the half and continued that, outscoring the Mercs 30-22 in the 2nd half to wrap up the victory.

Mikayla Olesiak led the way for the Panthers, scoring 20 points. Krystal Karppinen also had a nice performance, scoring 16 points including 4 threes. RyAnna Anvid pitched in 7 points, Justice Janke added 6, and Lindsey Janke topped the victory off with 4 points.

Heidi DeRosier-Kelley led the Mercuries with 18 points in the loss. Amy Gelhar pitched in 13, Jo Jo Orbeck added 6, and Danelle Demenge topped it off with 5 in the loss.

The Panthers improve to 9-3 on the season and will be back into action on January 20th when they travel to Wrenshall to play the Wrens. The Mercs drop to 6-6 on the season and will look to get back on track on January 19th when they play the Carlton Bulldogs on the road.
