East Wins Ski Meet

Mt. Itasca in Grand Rapids was host for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton/Proctor Classic Tuesday afternoon in Grand Rapids.

 

The Ely girls edged the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks by five points to capture the girls title, with a team score of 364, and Duluth East won the boys title with 380 points as they finished ahead of Ely who finished with a total of 371.

 

Girls: 1. Ely 364; 2. Grand Rapids 359 (won tiebreaker); 3. Duluth East 359; 4. Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 350; 5. Mesabi East/Virginia/E-G 334; 6. Proctor/Hermantown 325; 7. Two Harbors 193; 8. Hibbing 133; 9. Duluth Denfeld 127; 10. Deer River 64.

 

Boys: 1. Duluth East 380; 2. Ely 371; 3. Mesabi East/Virginia/E-G 348; 4. Grand Rapids 308; 5. Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 299; 6. Duluth Denfeld 278; 7. Proctor/Hermantown 272; 8. Hibbing 232.5; 9. Two Harbors 192; 10. Cook County 72; 11. Deer River 60.

 

Mesabi East/Virginia/E-G’s Anna Johnson won the girls race in 14:52, Hannah Bettendorf was second with a time of 15:15 from Proctor-Hermantown, and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton’s Erika Fox was third with a time of 15:43.

Ely’s Seth Prigge was the top boys finisher in 12:38.6, Joe Rauzi was 4th from Duluth East, Sam Olson was Proctor-Hermantown’s top finisher in 7th, Austin Burley was Denfeld’s top finisher in 19th and CEC’s Joey Gotchnick was 24th.
