The Cloquet girls basketball team entered Saturdays match up with Crosby-Ironton looking for their first win of the season, and for most of Saturday afternoons game it looked like the lady Jacks were poised to pick up that win, the only problem was nobody told the Rangers as Crosby-Ironton mounted a second half comeback and beat the Jacks by a score of 52-42.

The Lumberjacks who started like a team on a mission saw Anna Fossen and Hazel Ericson shot well from the outside and Kassidy Steen control the low post as Cloquet built up a 32-18 lead late int he first half with under a minute to play in the half. Laura Peterson hit a free throw and Cyan Hale hit a three pointer with 4 seconds left in the half to make it a a 32-22 Lumberjack lead at the break.

The Rangers came out in the second half and would slowly break down the Lumberjacks defensively and methodically chip away at the Lumberjack lead. Cloquet in the meantime got cold from the field and couldn’t hit a basket, as Cloquet only scored six points through the first 16 minutes of the second half.

The Rangers continued to chip away until the took the lead for good when Peterson hit two free throws and the would continue to shoot well from the Charity stripe as the Rangers picked up their second win of the season. Cloquet with the loss falls to 0-3 and they will try to pick up their first win Tuesday night in Hermantown.
