Panthers off to 3-0 start

The South Ridge Panthers Girls Basketball team won two more games this past week beating Northeast Range 65-40 and Northwoods 56-38.

The Northeast Range Nighthawks traveled to the South Ridge gym on Monday night. The Panthers jumped out to a fast lead early on and never looked back.

The Panthers were led by Sophomore Ryanna Anvid with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Justice Janke added 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 steals. Senior Mikayla Olesiak had 13 points on the night and Junior Krystal Karppinen added 10. Junior Gracelynn Otis had 5 assists.  Junior Lindsey Janke and Sophomore Morgan Cherne each had 4 points.

They took on the Northwoods Grizzlies Thursday night. The Panthers were up heading into the second half.  Northwoods tried their best to make a comeback, coming to within 6 points during the second half; But the Panthers stayed tough and came out with the 56-38 win.

The Panthers were led by Sophomore RyAnna Anvid with 14 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 blocks; And Junior Lindsey Janke also with 14 points. Senior Mikayla Olesiak added 12 points, and Senior Justice Janke ended the night with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 steals. Junior Point Guard Krystal Karppinen added 6 points and 6 assists for South Ridge.

The Panthers will take on Mesabe East next in Aurora on Monday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
