C-E-C Boys Start the Season 2-0

A pair of goals in the first period by Christian Pritchett helped launch the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey team into an offensive barrage as the Jacks pounded Cambridge-Isanti 8-0 in Cambridge on Tuesday night.

Pritchett’s first goal was scored at 6:35 of the first period with assists to Michael Sullivan and Dylan Johnson giving CEC a 1-0 edge. At 12:12 the Jacks tallied a power play marker when Nick Niemi powered home a shot with assists to Derek Bloom and Reid Davidson making it 2-0. CEC pulled ahead 3-0 when Pritchett added his second goal at 14:55 of the first period on assists by Hunter Roberts and Dalton Johnson.

As good as the Jacks were in the first period they were even stronger in the second period when they added four more goals with the first coming at the 4:10 mark on the power play from Dalton Johnson with assists to Niemi and Kyle Klatt. At 9:25 it was an even strength goal by Sullivan with Kaden Matteen notching the assist. At 12:08 the Jacks added yet another goal when Ryan Schramm scored from Sullivan and Austin Carlson. CEC went ahead 7-0 in the second period on the power play goal by Jack Kuhlman with assist going to Dylan Johnson and Dalton Johnson.

The third period was played in running time and the lone goal of the period was scored by Bloom with Pritchett adding the assist in a shorthanded situation.

In all the Jacks scored three power play goals and one shorthanded tally to easily win the special teams play on the night.

CEC netminder Eric Newman stopped all 12 shots he faced while Blue Jackets goalie Logan Hyland made 35 saves on 43 shots.
