Duluth East Wins Season Opener

The Duluth East Greyhound started their season off with a victory on Tuesday night, beating the Proctor Rails 75-61.

The Greyhounds got out to a 40-28 lead at halftime and kept the gas pedal down in the second half, outscoring the rails 35-33 to gain the victory in their season opener.

Leading the Greyhounds to victory was Kahlil Green who dropped 19 points on the Rails. Following him was Will Heyer and Sam Thompson with 15 points and Matt Sandbulte with 12 points. Quentin Miller pitched in 7 points, Joey Zwak added 4 points, and Isaiah Bolen topped it off with 3 points.

In the loss for the Rails, Jordan Bergquist had 18 points and Bryden Urie added 17 points. Travis Carlson followed with 9 points, John Pioro added 6, Beau Adams and Chase Urie pitched in 4 a piece, and Steve Fremling had 2.

The Greyhounds are 1-0 to begin the season and will look for another victory on November 29th when they host Blaine. The Rails drop to 0-2 on the year and will look to pick up their first win on December 2nd when they travel to play Two Harbors.
