Mirage Move to 2-0

The Proctor-Hermantown Mirage moved to 2-0 on Saturday evening as the Mirage shut out the Wildcats from Chisago Lakes by a score of 7-0 as Callie Hoff and Sophie McGovern combined for 5 goals and six assists on the night. Jillayne Gilbert also tallied one goal to go along with 3 assists in the victory.

Hoff scored the hat trick Saturday in the first period, as she scored the games first two goals and scored the Mirage’s 4th goal as part of a 5 goal outburst in the first period. Hoff had a hand in all five goals in the first period as she assisted on goals scored by Mikayla Kero and also Sophie McGovern. Hoff gave the Mirage a 1-0 lead as she scored an unassisted goal to get things started Saturday.  Hoff scored her second goal moments later this time assists went to Skylar Gunderson and Sophie McGovern.

The Mirage made it 3-0 Kero scored with assists to Hoff and McGovern, this was a power play goal for the Mirage. Hoff completed the Hat Trick at 12:55 of the first period when she scored an even strength goal with Gilbert getting the lone assist, as the Mirage went in front 4-0. McGovern then scored her first goal of the game as the scored an even strength goal as the assists went to Hoff and Gilbert as the Mirage led 5-0 after the first period.

Proctor-Hermantown added tow more second period goals as Gilbert would score at 3:00 to make it 6-0 while the lone assist coming from  Sophie McGovern. Eight minutes later the Mirage scored their seventh gol of the contest when McGovern scored her second goal as Hoff and Gilbert combined on the assist.

Amy Lemenager was the winning goaltender as she stopped all 8 shots she faced on the night, Ryan Gray stopped 5 shots in the third period for the Mirage. Katelyn Sargent stopped 21 of the 28 shots she faced in the loss for the Wildcats.

The Mirage move to 2-0 on the season and they will host Hibbing-Chisholm on Tuesday night at the Proctor Ice Arena.
