The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels overcame several first half turnovers Wednesday afternoon as it was the Rebels winning their seventh straight contest by a score of 36-26 over the Marshall Hilltoppers at Duluth Marshal High School. The Rebels who scored first Wednesday on a 25 yard touchdown run from Josh Pettersen, saw the Toppers bounce back following the Rebels miscues as Jon Hansen and Tyler Cummins each had touchdown runs to give the Toppers a 13 – 6 lead at the break.

Wyatt Lampel scored on a 3 yard touchdown run to start the third quarter and the Rebels would never look back as they picked up the 10 point victory. Lampel’s touchdown run was set up when Bryceton Butkiewicz broke free on a 44 yard run down to the Marshall 3 yard line. Bryceton Butkiewicz scored a touchdown of his own as her rushed a 4 yard touchdown to give the Rebels a 20-13 win. Kody Gerard caught an 11 yard touchdown pass from Brad Fossum to finish out a 22 point third quarter.

The Toppers responded in the fourth quarter adding tow late touchdowns but it was too late as the Rebels pick up the victory and end the season at 7-1 overall. Marshall ends with a 3-5 record. The Rebels will have a bye in the first round of the section 7AA playoffs while Marshall appears they will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs.
